Being working hard (like everyone) to reduce bg and am usually in high 6-7 and after a meal high 7-8's. It is 3 and a half months since diagnosis - so still lots to learn (but it is better than the readings between 11-18 when diagnosed)

A few times I have started to feel sick, sweaty and generally ugghh! When I take blood sugar it is a low 6 - if I eat something it goes but should I really be feeling like this when only hitting 6's - when the aim should be 4 or 5. I know my monitor is fine (I have 2 and the difference testing between the 2 was 0.1)

I have an apt on Friday but have just spent the last 20 minutes feeling very sick and really sweaty and really hate the feeling

thanks

I've only had one hypo, but during that I felt dizzy and had thumping heart palpitations and was about 3.5. It does sound odd to get one in the 6s. Hopefully someone will be along soon who can put your mind at rest.

When your bg has been running high for some time and you start to lower it you can experience what they call False Hypo's, these can occur even when your bg levels are within normal range, in time they do disappear. Still worth mentioning them on Friday.

thanks for this, makes a lot of sense, just wish had been warned these might happen (oh well) learnt something else new

thanks

It comes up a lot on the forum, it's not a nice feeling but it does disappear as bg levels start to normalise.

As said, a 'false low' with the symptoms you mention may happen when your blood sugar levels suddenly - over a fairly short time - become lower than your body is accustomed to have ... - Your body will then try to tell you: "Hey buddy, you are depriving me of my carbs - please, pretty please, give me carbs back again now!" - But the 'false low' feelings will gradually disappear.

Please hold on! - and kudos to you for actively trying to lower your carb intake :)
