Could you help me with my final year study?

Hi all, I'm a final year Industrial Design BA student at university and am currently doing my main project in Diabetes treatment equipment. I'm also a part-time carer and have been for around 5 years for my grandparents who both live with Type 1. In addition to that, the majority of my family and relatives all have either Type 1 or 2 and they've all given so much advice, but I could really do with more to help me move forward with the project.

I've been delving into the subject of older adults, living either independently or dependently on others, self-managing their diabetes while having or developing various sensory and physical complications (vision, strength, dexterity, cognition, chronic conditions...etc). The aim is to basically see how adaptive and inclusive medical equipment actually is, understand the daily complications and possible solutions people may have found to overcome any difficulties they have faced. In particular, I have been looking at blood glucose monitors and insulin delivery systems and I'm currently just in the research phase, but will be needing to make some real life prototypes very soon! So it would be really helpful to know your experiences or opinions on the subject matter.

Long post I know, but any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Also, I've attached a more detailed information sheet just in case you wanted even more details and there's a link to a questionnaire down below if you would like to participate further. If you're 50+ years of age or know anyone who is I would be really grateful if you could fill the questionnaire in or pass it on. Feel free to critique it in case you find there's anything missing or think I could improve it further. Thanks again!

Feel free to send me a private message on here and I can help as much as possible with whatever knowledge I have:)

I am 57 and have no diabetic complications. I was borderline at birth. I am Type 2 now having started metformin almost 6 years ago, and insulin 2 started just after Christmas two years ago. I do not wish to fill out your questionnaire but will answer any questions that you have-just post and ask.

I've completed your questionnaire as I know how difficult it is to get responses, especially as a student. It took only ten minutes to complete this questionnaire, so a relatively short time. the questions are easy and there is no personal information gathered at all, its all about frequency of testing etc and the equipment you use. Hope this helps and encourages others to participate who have had more experience with diabetes than me.

I just went to complete your survey and bailed out because I'm not impressed...

Your survey is aimed at those 18 years old and over. Although the second question regarding age; leaves those below 50 unable to enter their age range? I might sound like I'm coming across harsh here, but no one is going to complete your questionnaire correctly/at all if you fail to even set the questions out properly. It's like spelling your name wrong on a CV cover letter...

I wish you luck though.

Apologies for the confusion, under university guidelines, we have to literally state that you have to be 18 and above to fill out a questionnaire. The reason why the second question leaves out age ranges under 50, as stated in my first post above, is because the study is only looking into older adults with Diabetes and also says you need to be 50+ years of age to fill it out. Thanks for pointing this out though, I'll make some updates and make sure that it's stated more clearly in my post and the questionnaire intro. :)

My sincerest apologies for being a total fool... Pretty embarrassed.
