Hello folks,
I’m grateful for my membership to be accepted. I’m not quite sure about the various readings that are about.
I have a Safe-Accu Blood Glucose Monitoring System.
A few months ago, I took a blood sample and it read 6.5.
Today, I took another sample and it read 11.5
Is there cause to worry?

Many thanks for any help.
Steve.

Hi Steve

This information page gives an idea of what ideal glucose numbers should be.
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

Take note that the highest values are normally experienced around 90 minutes after eating but that also depends on what you've eaten.

Test again and make sure your hands are clean before pricking your fingers.

If you are concerned then please seek the advice of medical professionals.

Thankyou urbanracer, I’m grateful for your help.
Blimey! I’m way over. It looks like I’ve got type 2. I’ve been chronically tired of late, but put it down to the Astra jab.
I’ve got some serious dieting todo now, I guess.

The vaccines (may) raise glucose levels in some people for a while, so what's the time relationship between the jab and your high levels?

About two months, I’d guess. In fact, our 2nd jab is due this Thursday. But about two weeks after the first jab, I became really lethargic. I put it down to the Astra jab. But almost 3 months after the first jab, my energy levels often plummet.
That’s when I thought about checking my blood sugar levels, which read 11.5 without any food since yesterday.

I think I would suggest talking to a doctor and trying to get a proper diagnosis.

Are you on any medication such as steroids, or experiencing any stress in your life?

Thanks for that, it’s appreciated. I have a blood test booked at doctors this Friday.
No, no unusual medication or no more stress than everyone else is under these days.
I will update you with my blood test conclusion.
Thanks for your help.

Good luck, maybe it's something less serious, but you know where to find us.
