Counting carbs

Started low carbing after reading Dr Bernsteins book but finding the salad bit really hard to work out! He says a cup full (I assume American 250ml) is equivalent to 6g carbs that seems a very small amount of salad to me for 6g?
Any advice anyone?

What sort of salad goes into his salads? (e.g. cucumber, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes... beetroot???)
 
Get a pair of electronic scales with carbs converter on them. Initially weigh stuff. The scales come with quick codes for cucumber, even lettuce etc... Or use my fitness pal app and scan the barcodes of lettuce if wrapped or type in red pepper.. And it gives far more choices of size portions...
You only need to do either of them once. Then write it down and its there to remember.

Any recommendations on the scales?

Is your app available for Windows phone, if so, what's the link?
 
A cup of salad ..........that doesn't seem a lot:eek:
 
My scales are nutriscales and are fabulous. I got them from an online chemist cheap about 4 years ago and absolutely love them.

Don't know whether myfitnesspal is just iphones etc... I'll google to see. So many people here use it.

I just done it on a protein drink. Outside of box details didnt give me per pack (7 packs in box) so I scanned the barcode and hey presto.. Per pack.

Hopefully someone else cananswer about the app before I do a google!!
