In September I will be attending my appeal hearing regarding my application for PIP benefit being rejected. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so could you please offer me any help or advice? Thank you.

I haven't experienced this although I think I will be going that way as I have sent off for my MR but I'm doubtful they will overturn their original decision. I find the citizen's advice website to be helpful - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/b...d-people-and-carers/pip/appeals/your-hearing/, you can also contact your local citizen's advice to get help with your appeal.

From extensively researching it myself though in preparation I'd say make sure you have plenty of evidence to back yourself up such as doctors' reports etc. Write down what you think you should have scored and why you should have scored that, this is where any evidence you have will also help your case. If you don't agree with something in your assessment report or it's wrong make a note of why it is wrong and what it should say instead and use your evidence to back you up with this as well. If possible take someone with you to the hearing, they can also speak on your behalf about how your conditions affect you.

We used citizens advice, but if you can afford a solicitor or in a union, or a charity that can help represent you on what is going on. A doctor/specialist report and hopefully you have kept list of appointments, treatments, hospital tests and anything you can bring to the appeal.
We received a really good outcome, because of my wife's circumstances, being disabled.
She does not need to be assessed again and a court order to prevent the authorities to get one!
This was obviously around a decade ago.
Good luck!
When asked questions, impress the difficulties you are having, stress the symptoms and treatment you need.

These tribunals know the score and if you have been honest and under scored, they will almost certainly adjust the score higher for your claims.

I had to go to tribunal (not diabetes related) and they overturned DWP's decision part way through questioning me. I went from 0 points to 25 at that point with more than 1/3 of the form to go!
Getting advice is very useful, as is having someone with you to prod you if you forget anything.
General advice is always to think about your worst days not the best or an average day - how does that affect your ability to do routine tasks?

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
Thank you all very much for your advice.
Regardless of how disabling it might mentally/physically, I cannot stress enough to still go to the appeal. My hubby went armed with info from the mental health charity mind (through cab) he was awarded full rates to which he broke down in tears as he had been pushed form pillar to post before cab helped. There was a disability advisor, dwp representative and legal representative I think that were there asking the questions. I cannot really remember as I was in a state too!
