Covid effects

Type of diabetes
Type 2
I had managed to put my type 2 diabetes into remission and stopped taking metformin. But last year in June I got covid and my sugar level shot up such that the doctor advised me to take metformin 500g twice a day. Now I am on 500mg daily and trying hard to put the diabetes into remission again using low carb diet. So am wondering if it's possible to do that after being hit by covid

As far as I know Roy Taylor's work showed better effect the sooner the diagnosed person began their intervention (he used the 800kcal method popularised by Michael Mosely) but other research (Virta Health) showed great results in achieving remission with people who were on insulin (type 2) which implies high insulin resistance. If you are early in your diagnosis then there is no better time to get going with it and no reason why covid or any other virus (they do typically raise blood sugars) should prevent this. Your immune health (and many other things besides) will definitely benefit from the focus on good food which lowers both your insulin and glucose levels so I'd go for it unless you are reluctant or wary for some other reason?

I had covid a few weeks before that, and it did take a while for bloods to go down again (not on medication, just diet) but they are where I want them now. We are all different, so this is just my experience.

How high have you gone, and have you lost weight? Just asking as T1 can be triggered by infection/illness and worth ruling out
