COVID Vaccine elegibility

I'm 60, T1 and have had all the COVID jabs offered but this year my GP refused me one with my regular flu jab appointment. Apparently I don't qualify... Has anyone else experienced this? Have the rules changed?
Any advice welcome!

I discovered the same today when I followed an on line invitation to book a covid jab.
I looked up the guidelines and it seems the number of people getting it this winter is limited, it looks like they are relying on herd immunity now.

I've now read further to the time line of changes year-on-year, and yes, clinical risk groups were removed this year! But you have to get through all the preceding guff, the tables haven't been updated with a precise summary at the beginning. Typical bureaucratic bs..
 
My GP surgery nurse didn’t know either when I had my health reviews earlier this week. Happily jabbed me with shingles vaccine, but said there would be more info about covid and flu vaccine programme in early October.
I will be spending another autumn / winter being antisocial.
 
Must admit I haven’t had a Covid vaccine in about 3 years but the last one I had made me feel worse then when I actually had Covid, personal choice though. I always get my flu jab though. I’m surprised they’re limiting who can get it now, clinical risk groups aren’t suddenly not going to be at risk!! That’s why we get the flu jab every year?!
 

How did you get on with the shingles jab? I found it awful and am dreading the next one.
Always have my flu jab, but was contemplating ditching the covid one this year. Now I don’t have to make that decision.

I didn’t have time to think about it. It was suggested during review, and as I had already had shingles twice, once on face, once around lower abdomen, with the pain that remained for over two years I agreed.
Arm has been hot and tender, and I have felt flu-like aches for a few days. It has been uncomfortable, but less , much less , and preferable to shingles infection and the pain from the rash.

I would still have covid jab if offered. I was very ill when I caught covid.
 
I had letters from NHS.gov.uk from the earliest Covid vaccinations until this year. Our surgery, the largest outside Bury St Edmunds, works well in spite of running on fumes. twice now they have told me when the shielded patients should turn up. When I followed their instructions, they had the embarrassment of having to say that the vaccine hadn't arrived. I still remain one of only 2 in my family who have not had Covid!
 
Not that the province where I live in Canada's Covid vaccination policy has any relevance to UK members, as far as I can see if you ask for a Covid shot here they will give you one for free. I will keep up with my Covid vaccines, only because I got so ill with Sepsis Pneumonia a few years ago and once you've had Sepsis you are more likely than not to have sepsis again.
I had the Shingles shots , nasty.

I qualify for shingles vaccine next year, I’m not looking forward to it from what I’ve read here! However I have had shingles so it’s the better of two evils I guess.
 
I was ill with shingles in my teens. I can no longer remember the pain, but I was left with scars that are still visible. I had a shingles vaccine two years ago. It was no worse than a flu vaccine, probably because I always follow advice given by my Tai Chi teacher: Keep rotating the arm after the vaccination, and take a brisk walk.
However, if offered a Covid vaccine, I will only accept Pfizer because other vaccines have made me very unwell. But I am allergic to all sort of things.

Shingles jabs? - I've had one shingles jab, didn't know there was a need for more than 1.

I've accepted the flu jab ever since my 3x CABG because I was told that cardiac o and diabetes patients are more at risk if they get flu. I never bothered will flu jabs before then and have only had flu once in my 74yrs - back in my early 30's.

I won't be accepting the Covid jab, though offered it. This is because I've had 3 of then 2x Astra Zeneca and 1 x Pfizer . The only one they seem to offer now is the Pfizer MRNA one and I really don't like the idea of putting more of that in my body (though didn't get a bad rection to it). In my mind, either the jabs worked in which case I'm (doubly) protected for many years, or they didn't in which case what's the point of taking more?
 
When I asked my DN re the flu and covid she said I will do you Flu jab you won't need to go to the pharmacy then nothing was mentioned re the covid one ( I usually get them both done at the walk in pharmacy) and noticed pharmacies are advertising flu jabs booking now nothing re covid

The OP question was about eligibility & if anyone had experienced not being offered the jab, not whether they should or shouldn’t get the jab
