Hi, has anyone who has recently had covid able to advise please. I'm on day 11 since testing positive and am still feeling really really tired and headachy. BS levels seem to have stabilised a bit now but I'm not feeling better enough to go back to work tomorrow. Any one else have it linger around this long? Everything I've read seems to say 5-10 days.... I feel like my work place will think I'm taking the mick

Thanks, the headache is just a killer. Hope your son is better now! I think I'll give my gp a call first thing unless I miraculously feel better. My estimated hba1c on my libre has not been great for about 2 months now so maybe it's just taking me longer to fight it because of that...I had it easy but my son was tired and had a headache for a week after his 10 days off. He came back from school and had a nap (he is 14).
I think your blood sugars will be the best guide to how you are handling things as well as your symptoms. If you truly can't work after a lemsip then you can't work but may be required to get a sick note.
Keep up with good nutrition and adequate fluids. If your symptoms worsen phone 111 especially if your diabetes is getting out of control.
As for Long Covid (post viral syndrome) this may be a thing but is rather ill defined at present so you may want to wait a little more before going down that rabbit hole!
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
Oh that sounds awful. Hope you are starting to feel better xI had it right at the beginning 18 months ago and was very ill for 3 weeks, unable to get dressed etc. I had a persistent choking cough for over 6 months and was sent for an X-ray and was diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed both a steroid and reliever inhaler. My breathing was that bad I had a special tube to help with the inhalers. It’s only this last month that ive started to fell better and that’s 18 months and can now go days without the inhalers but still have a cough.
Not everyone is the same ,and there are different degrees of illness with some just feeling a bit off it whereas others are floored with it. if you need to speak to your GP . And As others have said keep a close eye on your sugars as they can go haywire when not well

Last night was still showing positive.... I also looked this up and was my understanding that lft can show positive for up to 90 days after but that you are not usually infectious after 10 days? It's so complicated!!!Have you taken an LFT recently?
Fortunately, I haven't had covid (fingers crossed), but a friend of mine tested positive, following a break out in their workplace. He was virtually symptom-free, so expecting his "release" LFT to be clear on Friday, but that just wasn't the case.
If you do a LFT and it is positive, you must continue to isolate. That's my understanding at least.
I hope you feel better soon.

Yes we are all different! We are all different.
Things like maintain blood sugar levels, managing weight and taking vaccines offered reduce risk of severe covid but that is not to say someone with 3 jabs, with a low HbA1C with a healthy bmi and no other conditions will recover within 5 days.
