I have just tested positive for Covid. The strains are supposed to be milder but I'm really unwell again, just like as last time. I had the Covid vaccine booster 13 days ago. Has anyone else caught Covid this Autumn?

Not yet! But I am in the office today and a workmate has gone home after getting a call from his (nurse) wife to tell him she's tested positive.
Had my jab yesterday so hopefully I have a bit of resistance built up before i catch the lurgy.

Not caught it yet, but 2 friends I was with on Sunday now have it, and 4 people I was at a meeting with last Wednesday. 3 neighbours are positive but I havent had recent contact with them. Seems like it's rife in our village.
I had the vaccine on Saturday
Think it's only a matter of time.

Hoping for a weekend away day after tomorrow, but not placing any bets

I know 3 people between the ages of 63 to 83 with it now,
For all of them, this is the first time they have tested positive.
All are lacking in energy and feeling “a bit fluey”.
The older guys are taking longer to recover.
None have diabetes.

As the current strain of Covid is supposed to be a different strain, does anyone know if there are new type of test strips to purchase?
Last time that I had Covid was in July (for the third time) but I thought it was some different virus because I had had all the vaccinations. I was very unwell. However, when 111 sent paramedics they asked me to take a Covid test, and to my surprise it proved to be Covid.

I had the latest vaccination on Sunday, so hopefully that will offer further protection. This time I had fewer side effects than previously.

Don’t think so and I’m hearing more and more reports it’s taking several days of symptoms to get a positive for many people, whereas originally they often showed positive even before the symptoms really showed up.

Sadly this means lots of initially false negatives - many won’t retest and will continue to mix assuming it’s just a cold. And that’s for those that even bother to test at all.

Same story as for the last 3 yrs - lack of widespread accurate scientific information masked with overwhelming desire to be rid of the whole problem by ignoring the harsh realities.

I had all symptoms in early September, but tested negative on one test. However, my doctor now says I have long covid symptoms, and that I did have it. I felt completely exhausted….could barely move, sore throat, congested and burning throat. Later, I got rash and taste problems. Some still going on.

The tests aren’t perfect (by a long way and never were - always had a fairly high number of false negatives but few false positives assuming you did it as directed and didn’t use juice etc). As I said above this means many get a false negative in the first few days and assume it’s not covid when in fact it is. Hope the effects pass soon, it can be awful

Never had covid. Got the flu & covid jab this coming Saturday.

Lucky, my wife works from home & I haven’t gone anywhere for the past couple of weeks, nursing 3 broken ribs..
Last thing I’d want is a cough right now..

Best wishes for a speedy recovery..
