It can indeedy be very painful .I too suffered severe thirst but so do many diabetics especially when not diagnosed. Had 4 cramps in my left calf again last night. Wish mine would just go!
I used to have to do stretching legs exercises
Before bed time and massage my calves too .
This helped to lessen the cramp attacks .
Use a bath towel rolled up .
Place middle of it under foot .
Hold the two ends of towel and stretch as
far as you can against the towel .
You will feel your calves pull as you do this .
Then a good massage to each calve afterwards .
Worked well to lessen the cramps and slept better too !
