Hi, I'm partner and carer of a 33 year old man who became type 1 after an abdominal operation several years ago. He has struggled with it all for all this time and doesn't control very well. (I think he's still in denial)
He's tries to be active and enjoys the gym however he is having hypo's everytime he's working out recently. He injects Insulatard twice daily and has rapid before meals.
I'm quite clueless really and because he doesn't monitor or diary anything it's hard to see patterns and help him any more.
I'm looking for support or links to exercise and diabetes and also anything which might help him come to terms with being diabetic.
Hospital are useless and just tell him off for his sugars but don't help him or encourage counselling. Hes usually reading about 22 and has hypo symptoms at 12. Once they hit that, they rapidly drop and he's been 2.2 before
Thank you
