Hi all,

Just wondered if any type 1 diabetics currently take Creatine and if there is anything I should know about it?

Thank you

Hi @JackLowe123 If you mean protein shakes then the only thing to be aware of is that protein can turn to glucose in the absence of carbohydrates (gluconeogenesis) so could cause your levels to slowly rise depending on how much you consume, check the nutritional information for carb value, but it would be a trial and error process to see the effect on your BG levels.

Thanks for your response.
I'm back in the gym now which mainly is weight training but will include a little bit of cardio to help keep weight off. I take protein shakes usually after the gym but I always try to pick a lower carb lower sugar one and the one I've had lately doesn't tend to effect sugars to much. I know Creatine is used to help strength / endurance and make muscles look fuller but was wondering if I can take Creatine like any other person would?
