Crustless Quiche

I bought a small crustless quiche from the supermarket for the first time. I was really looking forward to this, only to find that it has a thick crust at the bottom. I cut the bottom crust off, but why call it a crustless quiche?

Iceland is the same. I cut mine off too. Haven't bought it since. Mind you people complain if just egg based as it's an omelette not quiche, to them. Humf!
 
They are the easiest things to make, it's a regular in our house. Layers of sliced leeks, chorizo, onions, topped with cheese and then beaten eggs added to fill the gaps, bit of salt and pepper, bake Gas 4 180C for 60 mins or when golden on top and cheese is melted.
 
Leeks are my fav. I cannot keep them in the house at mo. Lidl have some nice big ones at mo.
 
As kids we had egg and cheese melted around it on a plate, cooked in oven. Lovely.
 
I'm now imagining that somebody somewhere is a professional Quiche Trimmer and has the job of cutting the sides off from regular quiches. o_O
 
Everytime we have a workshop at our painting group I have to make a crustless quiche and everyone enjoys it, normally do mushrooms and broccoli. It also means I have something to eat that's low carb.

Frittata.
An Italian version of a quiche made exactly the same way except there is no pastry base you should be able to get it in most supermarkets or just make it yourself. It's just like a Spanish omelet.
Eggs, milk, double cream, filling, cheese on top cooks in 20 mins in the oven.

I picked one up in the shop the other day I thought I was eating a sponge it was felt like it was full of water. I could have wrung it out into a glass.;)

They are but I just wanted something that I did not have to cook for a change.

I always make different ones, but was feeling lazy lol
 
Iceland base was like a piece of cardboard, not that I ate it but it looked inedible.

Very small and was suppose to be a family one.

Fresh is best but OK for an emergency but I bet vile if it had been frozen by me. Fresh in their fridge.
Unless struggling with no assistance at home I won't buy it again.
However for those unable to cook it can be delivered and plonked into own fridge for a one off.
On occasion i cannot whisk due to lack of energy or horrific pain. Hopefully from resolving anaemia or bad back treated by 4 different painkillers.
Diabetes is no problem compared to my other conditions.

(Reminiscing about days when just diabetes caused on/off tiredness).
 
I've bought these before and been disappointed that they have a crust on the bottom. :banghead:
I need to get some liners for my tins as when I try to make my own they always stick.
