Waiting for appt for ct scan to check painful pancreatic area and wonder has anyone had one and what advice can you give. Mainly worry as am claustrophobic and wonder if I will cope:(

I've had numerous ct scans...painless and only takes a very short time. If my memory serves me well for an abdominal scan your whole body does not go through the scanner

If its a ct scan it is a machine that is like a giant polo and only your tummy area will be in it. It is an MRI scan that is a machine that is like a tube which you whole body is slid into. They will probably inject a dye during the scan which is painless but does sometimes make you feel like you have wet yourself - you havnt! That feeling only lasts a couple of seconds. CT should take about 20 mins then you can go home. Sue xxx

@borderter, between us all I reckon we've experienced most things so there is usually someone around to help! And we all understand how daunting this medical malarkey can be first time round! Let us know how you get on. Sue xx
