Did anyone else hear about the " cure" that people at Newcastle university have found for type 2 diabetes ?

I heard about it on the radio a week or so ago, seemingly, they have had 11 people with type 2, on a strict 600 calorie a day diet, and all 11 became medication free.

Since the tests have ended, only 3 of the test subjects have reverted back to medication, but the other 8 are still medication free.

I've not heard anything since, but spoke about it to the nurse during my diabetic review who had heard about it, but said that an intake of only 600 calories a day is very severe.

thank you daisy1

Just a quick thank you for the links you sent me in regard the " 600 cal cure"

I agreed with a lot of the comments i.e. too short a time and too short a test base.

I lost a lot of weight several years ago, i went from 17stone to 11stone 2 pounds by training with weights, but my diet at the time was not good ( my 1st wife couldn't and still can't cook )

I now tip the scales at 15 stone, and was banned from the gym by the diabetic nurses as my blood sugars weren't under control, but i am back at the hospital later this month and hope to get the all clear to hit the gym again, and this time my diet is really good ( my 2nd wife is a really good cook )
