Hi all
I have curred myself of diabetes the Dr says I can come off the metforman don’t know about the spelling.
I went on a low carb diet and lost 45 pounds and the last blood test showed an average of 5.4 so the Dr told me to drop from four tabs a day to 3 and after the next blood test if it’s still low I can come off completely.

I will not go back on carbs or put the weight back on.
Thanks for all your help when I first got diabetes and the advice you give me.

Well done on getting your Diabetes under control, I’m loathe to say ‘cured’ because as you’ve realised you need to stay on low carbs to maintain those good numbers. I too am going to discuss reducing Metformin at my next review. It’s a good feeling isn’t it?

Well done! Will you still have regular blood tests just to make sure things are OK? Before I was diagnosed with diabetes I was having 12 monthly blood tests because it runs in my family. That was how it was picked up. Since diagnosis I have had problems picked up in 6 monthly blood tests that I didn't know I had.

I’m sure the weight loss was the big help. My HbA1c down to 5.7 yesterday and I had lost over 6 months 56 pounds. I feel so much better for the weight loss too.

Well done on sorting it out. You lost body fat and it was the fat around your liver and pancreas that made the difference to getting your body working again so keeping an eye on the waist size is the thing to watch out for. Love handles are fine but a beer gut is not! Hope you continue to enjoy the low carb life.
