Cut down on seeing the Diabetic nurse

My surgery has told me although they will do six monthly blood tests I will only see the nurse every twelve months. Cost cutting?

Bearing in mind the standard mal-alignment of views (on self testing and carb consumption), I would see that as a plus! I'm positive if you had an issue you wanted to discuss you could make an appointment to see someone. I'm also sure if you thought your control wouldo go to pot, I'm sure you would be accommodated.

There are now so many T2, in particular, it must be quite disheartening to be doing reviews.

Probably means that they are happy that you have control of your diabetes. I will now be seeing my DN and having my bloods tested annually.

I wish I never had to see my DBN.. I know what I am doing and I hate their negativity!

I don't have a problem seeing my DN once a year, but I do have an issue with only having annual blood tests. I presume that as my numbers have been low they don't think it's worth making sure I stay on track.

well my diabetic nurse took the huff because i forgot my last appointment date, never seen her for 2 month now, im a type 1 had diabetes 3 years now and still havnt a eye test. luckerly the gps still supplying my monthly insulin supply.

That is absolutely disgraceful. It is really important to insist on the eye check. Please, please follow this up. They **** well know you're entitled to one!

GP And nurse appointments can be stopped if you have missed 3 appts. You say you missed one because you forgot.... Was this the first one you have missed?

As a type 1 you really ought to be under a hospital consultant and if you were then they should sort out your eye screening.

Depending where you live there should be a number to call for your eye acreening.. I can just phone mine up...it may be worth it to try ringing your locality phone number for eye screening.

The ither thing to do is to speak directly to your GP and ask why you have been missed off for your annual eye screening and why its so hard to see the DSN.
