Ok so am feeling fed up this week. Absolutely nothing I am doing is working well for me. And am feeling pretty tired with it all. I will be fine though, as I have eventually realised that for me this wretched condition is cyclical.
I have a week like this, then a week of just constant highs, then a week of constant lows, and then bliss oh bliss a week of perfection. During this week I am cured. The line on my Libre graph is always in range, with hardly any rises or falls. Am I eating, exercising, sleeping or dressing differently? No! I have changed nothing. I do know the age of the insulin is key. As someone who uses only small amounts of basal I found that it is best to ditch it after three weeks. A waste which I feel guilty about. I wish I could be given half size vials. My bolus lasts exactly two weeks, nearly to the hour, so that’s ok, just! But the new one is always more efficient.
I wear a Libre without any add ons. Overall I cannot complain. It is usually pretty bang on with my blood tests, if I ever feel a need to do them. The difference is minuscule and if you leave the app on, within seconds I can see the Libre move to match the glucose. But then every so often there is a rogue attached to my arm that doesn’t follow the guidelines. I have one on at the moment, which is definitely not helping my mood. It has taken great delight in alarming throughout the night. I switched it off. I mean for goodness sake who is in charge here!!
Onwards into the day. Meeting a good friend for coffee this morning who I haven’t seen for two years. A mood enhancer absolutely.

Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
I feel your pain @becca59 I was doing fantastic before Xmas, regularly over 80% TIR and this year it's been bump after bump and lucky to get over 70%, I blame bad sites for mine and stress, both have played a devil's game with my t1d management.

It's good to share and speak about it even if it's just to off load, but hoping with spring and warmer days for better insulin absorption and improved TIR.. finger's crossed ! Enjoy your coffee catch up x

Not being on holiday....
Hi
I looked at my TIR today and i've gone 7 days without going above 9.9 mmol/l.
My 90 day is at 94% in range so i shouldn't be surprised but to go a full week is a first for me!
Theres always an odd time where i creep above 10....

My success is down to the Libre and 4mm needles and because i've been type 1 for 50 years i seem to appreciate them both more than most!

Whether we get it right or wrong just be grateful we know we are getting it right or wrong for us to be able to moan about it!!!

I hope everyone takes my remarks in the nicest possible way i'm feeling a bit giddy (5.7 btw) with a gf chicken butty and 3 units of novo rapid on board!

I adore the world today...

That's a very interesting remark about age of insulin. I wonder whether it makes any difference as to how it's stored? Iused to keep the stock in a "tupperware" in the fridge, but the current bottles were carried in an insulated container until they ran out. They certainly were not as cold in the container and must have gradually warmed up over the days.

People arguing over silly stuff
Totally get the sentiment in this thread - my 'system' is brilliant when its working, when something goes pear shaped it messes with every part of living.

Better now than when on MDI (days before CGM) as had too many serious outages to feel like I'd make my 40th birthday - now I manage well most of the time and am beginning to get used to a duff CGM and how to cope, and a bad cannula site (had one on Sunday) though felt cr*p for a good half a day afterwards...

Nothing is a good as a working biology - I'm a dangerous person to be around - I've already killed my own pancreas ;-)

My in use insulin is just in my kit bag. Or in the case of my basal in the medical drawer so I don’t get them mixed up. I know once out of the fridge you shouldn’t keep putting them back in.

Anyway had a good morning with my friend. Both just had a coffee, sat for two hours in beautiful sunshine. Though outside it is bitter.

Hey Tony. You have to take the wins where you can.
Absolutely and that was my point......i rarely beat myself up when things go wrong but i do marvel at my own greatness when i get it right!!
I don't mean that to sound smug either as i find a good graph extremely satisfying and it helps my head space...

Good luck

High and low sugar levels!
I feel your frustation!
2-3 months of the yo-yo myself.
MDI btw.
I have to hit the sweetspot with my basal which can mean 0.5 adjustments.
But when I do hit the sweetspot I seem to get the 'seesaw' effect where it soon becomes way to much!
The other issue is 'highs', where my fiasp turns to water, I have to take 3-4 times more than expected. Of course next, a massive crash!
Once the yo-yo starts it gets difficult to stop.
My personal target is what I call 75/45. 75%ir and 45hba but have slipped now to 70/48.
I believe with spring around the corner, things will get better.
Good luck @becca59

This is an interesting thread. It's a comfort to know I'm not alone in my diabetic struggles.
