Re: This might sound a bit whimpish.. :S

I would speak with your DSN so that they can check out if your injecting technique is the problem or whether it might be another underlying cause..

Possible causes might be that you've lost/changed weight so need a different sized needle than the one you've been using..

It could be that you aren't rotating enough so problems still being caused, or just that you've had one or two bad experiences and this is effect your injecting technique..

Do you inject your insulin straight out the fridge or is it at room temperture!

But a good natter with your DSN, who can go through it all and check things like your skin condiditon etc would hopefully help you a lot..

Hi Jelaca,

I sometimes go through phases where I bruise more than other times (certain times of the month are worse than others).

I find that anywhere there is more fat tends to be more comfortable. So if I'm going through a bad bruising patch I tend to favour injecting in my (not-skinny) bum. Yes, tummy can really hurt, especially if you are slim. And if everything's hurting, don't you find your nerves are just jangling trying to find a place to put the needle?

I think needle size could definitely be a factor; I just recently changed from 12mm to 8mm or 5mm (can't decide which I prefer yet) and I can't believe how huge the 12mm looks to me know. The other major factor for me is how often I change the needle... if you are having problems then try changing it for every injection. Some people do this as a matter of course anyway (and maybe you already do, but I thought I'd mention it).

Personally I've never injected in my arms because it hurts just thinking about it...!

Wow! That was so helpful, thank you so much!
I didn't realise you were supposed to inject away from your belly button :S Maybe thats why it's been hurting haha, but I followed the advice they gave, and I feel it's been a lot better, so thank you! :D

Pleased it was helpful! :)
