DAFNE

I highly recommend it. It changed everything for me. It gives you the knowledge to eat whatever you want and adjust your insulin accordingly. They don't discuss diet but they give you the choice to eat how you want, but encourage common sense. I am now equipped to follow any diet I want and I regularly swap and change, because I carb count I can do low carb, weightwatchers or have a blow out carb fest weekend and manage my sugar levels whatever. It also helps with exercise and illness. It's great as it gives you the flexibility to eat what you want when you want, exercise when you want (or not) without having to stick to any routine. Knowledge is power! Definitely take up the opportunity if you can.

As I said earlier lukkymik it is only for type 1's and I've not heard of any type 2's allowed to attend, the X-PERT course may be the way forward as this seems to cater for those who are type 2 and on insulin, did your Dr get back to you on Tuesday/Wednesday?
 
Wonderfully unsuprising news!!! Spoke to a lovely lady Nasime who runs the local DAFNE courses and showed her the "letter". She was gobsmacked that a GP could be so insensitive and more worryingly so inaccurate in their diagnosis!!!! Suffice to say DAFNE aint happening but we may go down the Expert course but she wants a proper sit down meeting with her boss and me to see what the best course of action (if any) is. Having had a quick look at my recent results which are generally good she's not sure what the problem is!!

The moral of this story is "If you dont agree with your GP" get some specialist advice!!! Thanks to all for the advice and comforting words!!
