I read about a yoghurt on the LCHF site, which is low carb, and only 2% sugars. I couldn't find it at any of the local supermarkets and so I contacted the company and apparently it is available at a supermarket 50 miles away. Unbelievable. I went to my local Sainsbury store and asked to see the Trading Manager. I explained to him that there are over 3 million diagnosed diabetics in this Country, and asked if he might be able to order this yoghurt, it only comes in two flavours, but perhaps if more people ask for it they might extend the range of flavours. he said he thought I have a valid point. So I am watching this space, he says he will try to get some if possible. I was very impressed by his response, but we will see if it brings any results.

What's wrong with Irish Fruit Yogurts 0%/0% that most supermarkets stock?
I bought some Irish Fruits but the ones I got may not be the right ones, when I got them home I read it properly and it says no added sugar on the front, but in the other bit it says each 125g pot provides 66 cals, 0.3 fat 0.1 saturates 9.0 sugars and 0.4 salt. Did I get the wrong ones?

I think that was the right one but the sugars come from the natural fruit sugars. Obviously with natural Greek yogurt or similar you would avoid the fruit sugar but as I like fruit anyway for me it's OK

I have been looking for a good yoghurt. I found the Irish Yoghurt Diet Berries with no added sugar. In the breakdown on Tescos it says 7.0g carbs of which 90g is sugar!!!

I alternate between Fage Total natural full fat (3.8 carbs per 100g) and Alpro soya naturally plain. (2 carbs per 100g) Both delicious with fresh berries thrown in. The reduced fat ones and the fruit flavoured ones will always have a higher carb/sugar content.

Surely sugar is sugar wherever it comes from? When I was feeling really thirsty, I was just drinking stuff like fruit juices, and because I was trying to lose weight was eating only fruit after 7pm and that must have been what made my levels really high. So I am trying to avoid too much fruit, so trying to stick to just one portion per day. I am hoping to get these Danone ones, and soon. Bluetit, how long has it taken to reduce your BMI to 26? It's very good, keep it up, I know it's not easy, but you are making really good progress.

All carbohydrates break down to sugar . vegetables and frit have carbohydrates and sugars in them. we have to eat some.
I meant fruit.

Yes, I have met with Nursey this morning, and she says I should be having 2 portions a day (Fruit, that is) and that I should be aiming for 5gm of sugar in foods. So, at least I know what to aim for, now. However, it seems I am not a well button, so have to watch it or I will end up a) in hospital for a few days and b) on insulin for life. Neither of which fills me with joy. So, towing the line and not putting a foot wrong.......

Be careful what fruits you eat. Some are much worse than others. I am not too bad with apples cherries and oranges. Bananas however are terrible. But we all seem to be different.

Oranges and grape can cause high sugar readings and white rice try blue berries strawberries and raspberries

The only way you can map out your personal reaction to a particular type of fruit, is by testing your blood glucose.

@Fizzball , I'm not sure whether you are type 1 or 2, but if you don't have a BG meter, you'll never know how your body reacts... And they are so reasonably priced for peace of mind. You can be up and running with a Codefree model for £20.

I find berries are the best. Fewer spikes, and so much deliciousness, per berry!

I have a meter, you get them from the GP for free, here.
