Hello there, my name is Andrea, and just over a week ago my 16 yr old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, after being admitted to hospital with DKA, she spent 3 days in intensive care. we are home now and trying to take it all in what has happened in the past week, and adjusting to this new situation, though my daughter is coping amazingly well and taking control of her medication, so at the moment I am learning all I can, we have an excellent diabetes team at our hospital, and friends and family support has been absolutely fantastic. I also have 5 other children one of whom is my daughters identical twin sister, and i know the risks of her developing diabetes are fairly high, but trying not to worry to much, taking a day at a time and trusting God. I am looking forward to hearing from anyone in a similar situation.
