Hello everyone.

I recently posted about how cutting carbs out almost entirely (low carb <100g per day) made me feel ill, especially since I had no carbs for breakfast. So, I've decided to try different foods for breakfast and report on the results here. Bear in mind that I take 500g Metformin twice per day (Breakfast and before bedtime) and that I walk 15 minutes to work with my works laptop in a bag!

I want to try different things and share them with you. I shall test upon waking, and then two hours later to determine if the NICE limits of 8.5 have been breached. I test before lunch too.

So, here goes..........

MONDAY, 22 OCTOBER 2012
===================

Waking: 6.3
Mid-morning: 7.6
Before lunch: 6.3

For breakfast, I had five spoonfuls of rolled oats (NOT PORRIDGE!) in yoghourt and a generous dollop of maple syrup.

Holland & Barrett I believe - my partner bought it for me.

Theories as to why your FBG on day two was higher Dave?

I'd also suggest you need to ensure the final choice is sustainable as you may find it gradually increases your overall BG's over a period of days. If you have low carbed for a while then if you're anything like me you can build up a tolerance to one off higher carb meals but I find they cannot be sustained over a prolonged period of days.

Not really. I do find that my levels fluctuate like this with no discernible trend. Mind you, I did have a Martini as an aperitif last night so that might have affected things a bit.

I tend to notice the same effect with gin. It's brilliant at stopping levels rise if you drink it along with eating something carby but slightly raises levels the next day. Overall well worth it though :)

Thanks, I'll take a look next time I'm in for my green tea :)
