Do you do a split dose of Levemir, so morning and night, or only in the mornings?I take 3 levemir and 1 novorapid on waking up
If you consistently need 2 units of novorapid, maybe it would help to take it right away?1 novorapid on waking up, and then often take another novorapid about an hour later. Otherwise the level stays high till late morning.
I do split the dose of levemir, but I do not usually inject till around 10 pm. However, often I have noticed by 4 am, it is starting to rise....Do you do a split dose of Levemir, so morning and night, or only in the mornings?
Levemir tends to wear off in a little less than 24 hours, so with once a day dosing it's very common to see a rise in the last hours before the next dose is due.

I don't usually have breakfast and the extra 1 unit of Novo is usually to deal with a cup of coffee -only.you could speak to your dsn/endo about dosages, overtime your insulin needs can change and you can become a little more insulin resistant as you sensitivity decreases. I'm not too sure why you would inject 3 times in the space of an hour in the morning? one for basal and one for bolus is plently for the morning. careful of insulin stacking effect. personally would inject the basal as normal instead of doing a correctional dose in a seperate injection would wait until your about to eat then work out the correctional dose and add to your normal breakfast dose for whatever carbs your consuming.
you could look into if your injecting enough basal and/or check if there maybe better timing, various insulins have different active time alongside peak active time.
guessing some milk in your coffee due to the lactose in it. that is still breaking fast. same as some people just eat fats and protein on low carb diet for breakfast. surely those could be done together. unless your choosing doing for another reason trying insulin stacking to bring down morning raise quicker than it otherwise would?I don't usually have breakfast and the extra 1 unit of Novo is usually to deal with a cup of coffee -only.
No, I just like a cup of coffee in the morning. It is my 'fix'!guessing some milk in your coffee due to the lactose in it. that is still breaking fast. same as some people just eat fats and protein on low carb diet for breakfast. surely those could be done together. unless your choosing doing for another reason trying insulin stacking to bring down morning raise quicker than it otherwise would?
semi skimmed milk and either Sweetex or Xylitol. But bg rises often from the middle of the night, quite steeply, after injecting 4 units Levemir at around 10. When I eventually put my head down to sleep (at around 1 am), it is often around 7.is your coffee just black or added some sugar in other ways?
