Probably a silly question but if you are going through the honeymoon phase would you expect to see a noticeable dawn phenomenon?

I will go up between 3-5mmol so need to inject the moment I wake up. It's a big pain!!

I am between 5-6 when I wake up. If I don't take insulin and eat right away I bounce up to 7.5 - 9 within 45 mins to an hour by just showering and getting ready.

For me it is not dawn phenomenon but waking phenomenon. It's waking that gives my body a huge requirement for a bolus.

When hubby used to deviate between AM/PM shift and I was on a pump it was a complete pain... As I would have to remember to change over the basal profiles to reflect getting up later.

Now I'm back to MDI again, it's great to just inject between 1.5 and 2.5 units of bolus as soon as I wake up, before doing anything... and it acts in great time with my body,

If I don't do this immediately I will be somewhere between 13 and 20 within two hours-without eating.....just purely from getting up. My basal keeps me brilliant at other times but waking phenomenon is controllable better for me on MDI than Pump when hubby shifts changed constantly.

Whilst no longer a honeymooner, I do see both. DP varies in timing dependent on food, exercise and bedtime (and I'm struggling to work out a pattern). To add to that, and afternoon nap usually results in waking phenomenon, just for fun. I don't know if it's possible to programme a pump for it given the variance. An AP algorithm would be more use!
