Day 6 Low Carb

Hello everyone and Happy Christmas,
On Monday, I was sent to hospital with a blood sugar reading of 22, it was confirmed I have diabetes type 2 and was given 500mg of metrofirm.

Since then I have been following a no / low card diet and today I have woken up feeling on edge and very racey.

Is this normal after cutting out carbs and sugar.

Also I do suffer from random heart palps but they seemed to increase as well.

Would love to know if there is anything to calm me.

If you consider the enviable anxiety your diagnosis and hospital visit will have caused, and the fact that your body is being forced to accept a different diet and get used to your almost certainly lower glucose levels.
It not surprising that you feel a little out of sorts, I know that my AF would be going into overdrive if I had all that going on.

Hi Julian

Within the first 6 days it is quite a lot of change that your body is going through. First, the switch to no/low carbs - my experience in the first few days my body/mind was still craving carbs but then it soon subsided as it got used to not having any/much which. I did not start on metformin until about two weeks after I had switched to low carb and then had runny tummy for a couple of days as my body got used it then had no further reaction thereafter. My experiences with both going low carb and starting on metformin seem to be quite common.

You've gone through both changes together in the first week so perhaps understandable you are feeling edgy. But if you react like I did, the second week won't be so bad and then soon you'll have adjusted.
