Have you ever known anyone to die from diabetes/complications from it? Did it freak you out a bit? I have type 1 and a girl i know that was the same age as me died on sunday. Her mum found her in bed in the morning which made me think it might be diabetes related. My mum found me in a coma in bed a few years ago so it has brought memories of that back up again. My friends mum died from a hypo and my aunty has had both of her legs amputated. Now the only person my age with diabetes that i know has died. Its not like im letting it effect my day to day life but its just knocked me for six a bit.

we had a member on here quite recently. use it as a tool to make sure your as healthy as you can be, youve seen what bad control can do good control means you live a long healthy life.

Hello @lucyunited89 Sorry to hear about your friend. Yes it is really sad when you hear news of someone you know dying, however do remember that you can still lead a healthy and full life whilst living with this, each day is a blessing and each day remember to count them and enjoy your life, big hug x

Yes, a close family member - but that was in the 90s, she was diagnosed in the 70s well before modern treatment and she always struggled with it. Lots of people have type 1 in my family and are in control of it, as am I, so it's not something I worry about.

Yes a couple of months ago my grandson's paternal grandmother who was T2 died of vascular dementia which her doctors attributed to her T2 diabetes.

The girl who just died did have good control. Thats why its scary. My control has never been good. I have a pump and the libre and its still all over the show. Thanks for the replys though x
