So, we're in the low carb section, and I'm giving you a treat
- a delicious snackette of gorgeousness - but it can only have 5 g carbs in it.

What's it going to be?

(This thread is for all those following Kress' Diabetes Miracle eating plan at the moment.
They get to snaffle no more than 5g carbs in snacks)

:D

1 mini (25g) bar of 85% moser roth Lidl's choc
Or
1/2 mini 25g bar of 62% moser roth Lidl's choc
Or
1/2 a Lidl's protein roll with lashings of butter

Guess where we went shopping last weekend? :)

lol that's so easy......300mls double cream. Yummy. Next fat fast next week and I'm so looking forward to it. :)

Small amount of plain soy yoghurt and few berries.

Rachel's organic luxury creme fraiche 200g 5.4g carbs
or
Holy Cow organic Devonshire clotted cream 113g 2.2g carbs per 100g
or
50g raw carrot sticks (5g carbs according to Zoe Harcombe)

Popcorn ! <wistful look> the 20g Propercorn bags have 12g carbs though :(

I've been for a look a before but couldn't find the lidl high protein rolls? Are they just the loose ones? What are they labelled as? And how many carbs is in 1 roll? Thanks :-)

There are about 5 g carbs in each 1/2 roll.

They are brown, triangular and covered in seeds. Baked in store, so they aren't always on display. We bought 12 today, and left none for anyone else. Lol.

They freeze too.

:)

Think pork scratchings are pretty low - don't have a pack to check at the moment.

And you can get some types that are more puffed up and kinder to your choppers!

Slice of ham spread with cream cheese, a few capers, roll it up and bob's your uncle. I can't stop at one though.

100g Olives = around 3g carbs
I wish I could learn to love olives, but for some reason I can't. Not that I hate them - if they're served, I eat them and don't hate the experience, but as for buying them and making them a regular part of my diet, I just can't seem to make it. If I buy them, they'll sit in the fridge for eons and I'll end up tossing them out. It's weird, but I can't ever imagine myself longing for an olive :)

Hi again, I tried one of these for lunch today (a whole one) but found I went higher than I'd hoped. Do you generally have to count for the protein with these as it's such a high amount?

We all have individual reactions to foods, and need to bear that in mind whenever eating new foods (also meter variance and portion size).

These rolls are not bread in the traditional sense. If you look up the ingredients you will see they are basically wheat protein and soya flour.

From the perspective of a diet controlled T2:
I would try another roll and see if the results repeat.
If so, drop down to a half roll and see if you tolerate that.
Luckily, despite being grain intolerant, i tolerate a whole roll very well.

i am not on insulin, so can't really comment on dosing, except that i have seen many T1s comments where they bolus for protein when they move to a lc diet.
