Delivering at 37th week, type 1 diabetes

Hi, I have type 1 diabetes and developed cholestasis of pregnancy during my last trimester. My gynaceologist have planned a c-section for me next Wednesday.

She has asked me to take my long acting insulin (lantus) on tuesday night as usual but not to inject short acting insulin (apidra) before taking my breakfast on Wednesday. I am confused that won't my blood glucose level will be high without taking apidra?

Can anyone share their experience with type 1 diabetes and a c-section?
 
Hello @ae45 Can you speak to your diabetic nurse for advice on this, I cannot comment on my experience as it was such a long time ago, but I ended up delivering at 37 weeks and an emergency c section, in regards to what I did with insulin it was a bit of a blur to be honest, so it's best you get a second opinion.
 
Each trust differs but they are likely to have you on sliding scale insulin before, during and after the surgery until you feel up to eating. Ask them to discuss with you, the expert on your diabetes, the plan. Don't trust them to know what they are doing.
