[QUOTE="MaryJ, post: 288001, member: 39680"] Hi Megan Can you give us more details? Already I'm thinking I couldn't eat those things without a) Blood sugar going up and b) Trumping like a good 'un. (ie tummy) I note you are type 1 with insulin, what's your control like? The reason I ask that is when I was diagnosed with Type 2 I thought I had no symptoms, however, after about 6 weeks of low carbing (getting my BG under control) I noticed that my hands were no longer hurting/aching/slow to get going in the morning. I had thought I was starting with arthritis at only 43 but now I know it was the high BG's or my body not liking carbs. Do you eat what you want and adjust your insulin to suit? And the reason I ask this is - type 1's can adapt their insulin to cover the carbs they eat, I don't have that option so choose to greatly reduce the carbs I eat, mainly to bring my BG down but the (pleasant) side effect I got was less grumbling tummy, fartiness, plus a 2.5 stone weight loss to boot. Some people I know diabetic or not, find too much bread (carb) too much pots (carbs) cause IBS type problems etc . Is it a possiblity with your HCP help you could look to reducing your carbs to see if you find your body improves at all. The reason I say with HCP help is cos of the impact of the insulin - hypo territory may come into it. As I say I'm type 2 so not that knowledgeable re T1 just what I've picked up from here.
