Hi All,
I'm new to the forum so wanna say Hi
I'm in a pretty ****** position at the moment. I was diagnosed in 2002 and I've been a bad diabetic I'll admit. Life got in the way and I ignored testing my sugars. Anyway to cut a long story short I ended up at the Opticians who said I needed to get my eyes checked at the hospital. I have been diagnosed with Proliferative Retinopathy for which I'm recieiving monthly injections and laser treatment to try and stablise my sight. (I'm only 36 :/ ) - I was taking Metphormin and Gliclozide for years....
Anyway, the DB Nurses seem to want to bring me down quite quickly from the high sugars and I've been put on insulin and I'm unsure as to how quickly I should be coming down. My fasting sugars in a morning have come down from 20+ in a morning to around the 12 mark over the last couple of weeks.
Just wondering if anyway has any idea's on what's the best strategy for this. I have depression already and it's wreaking havoc with my emotions having gone from complete denial to now having to test throughout the day.
Also, since coming onto insulin, I've noticed I've started getting numbness in my feet (which I didn't have before) :/ - Again if anyone has any experience of being high for too long and the 'come down' to normality I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance
