How much can fluctuating levels affect your moods. Some days I feel fine others I am in tears all day and very distressed. I am currently on antidepressants so surely these should be balancing my mood. I take two x metformin a day. Advice please. X

are you testing your BG?
it doesn't sound like depression, I don't think you can swing so quickly with that.
have you been back to the Dr?
have you asked to be referred to see what's going on?

Hi Jack412. I dont test regularly as I became very obsessed with this when first diagnosed in early March. I have seen a dietician twice which I didn't find helpful at all. X

everyone would leave a dietitian depressed, that's normal
FWIW, I don't think it's high or low blood sugar, back to your Dr

I don't think it's hormonal, I am due back to the Drs week after next will have a gd chat with her again. I am due to go on the Expert course soon which I hope will be helpful. X

I had mood swings and anxiety and other symptoms when I spiked then had a hypo. If your blood glucose levels are not in control and your eating too much carbs and sugars then the swings in your moods may match your blood glucose levels.

I have exactly the same experience as @nosher8355
I would also feel weepy, depressed and hopeless for up to 3 days after my blood glucose got too low.

If you were to test, you might be able to connect you blood glucose levels with your emotions.

Speaking from experience, it was a delightful revelation to discover that I wasn't a neurotic wreck - I just had swinging blood glucose.

As @Brunneria has said it is similar to depression as such.
Your first line saying can fluctuating blood levels give you mood swings etc.? Makes me think you are not in control. Have a couple of days to normalise your levels. See what happens then. I have to fast if I fluctuate. That is the easiest option for me.

Nosher8355. I think u are right. After being diagnosed I became obsessed with my diet and wldnt eat anything with carbs and sugar! This made me very ill indeed! I have since gone back to eating lots of chocolate again. I really need some advice on getting control again.

Have a look around the site and decide yourself. Start testing again, eat to your meter, lower your carbs and sugars, and get control, you know all this!

Start again, let us know how you are doing.
