Thought I had a pretty good handle on everything but lately I'd been feeling quite low the last couple of weeks. Went to work yesterday I got tearful over nothing. My BG was 11 when I was first diagnosed and has stuck around 6.6 so I'm not worried about that. Came back from the docs today and he has diagnosed depression and given me medication! Said that it's quite a life changer to be diagnosed diabetic and depression is quite common. Anyone had similar experiences?

Not a similar experience, no. But I know from posters here, it's certainly not uncommon. I think for many people, it's like a bereavement, loss of the life you knew, or that's how it seems at first. It doesn't have to be that way. A diet change can make such an huge difference, and within a short time as you learn what is what, your confidence grows. Knowledge is power. Arm yourself by reading here, learning about a low carb diet, adding in a little exercise and drinking lots of water, and you will soon feel better, and with that more in control.

When I was diagnosed, I came on here and cried all evening, I was so afraid, and lost. Just a few short weeks later, I don't feel like that any more. I feel quite able to live a long and healthy life. It truly isn't all doom and gloom, and you will be amazed at just how much better you feel once you get into your new lifestyle. You don't have to take my word, few here will disagree.

Take care - Jo
