hey guys just a quick question..
Lately among my friends ive been told ive been acting differently and been more withdrawn from the group than usual.. One of my close friends (who has recently been diagnosed with depression) has told me she thinks im acting the same way she did before she went to the doc and was put on anti-deprssents.. I don't feel depressed in the traditional sense but i do know im not my usual self and upon a bit of research i think it may be possible.. i have a clinic appointment tomorrow and was wondering about the best way to bring it up with my doc..? Do i just hit the nail right on the head and tell him outright i think i might have depression?

Many thanks guys

Hi Novowolf,

Go to your doctor and tell him how it is and how you feel, let him make the diagnosis. Hope all goes well

The thing is you may be run down or fed up or mildly depressed, there are so many permutations of the words depressed I've suffered with depression for the last 3 decades+ I've got it pretty bad but I have for the last 3 years changed my outlook on every thing it's been hard but I'm a positive person I've been on courses seminars read books you name it I probably done it , ( sorry blabbing on) there's plenty of help and advice out there don't be scared to tell your GP what your feeling it's not going to mean they'll pack you off with antidepressant they may refer you to a 6 week course of counselling with Mind or similar organizations you can go to Mind or other places yourself and make a small donation per session depending on circumstances. Sometimes just talking to someone helps and this can be so valuable an outsider listening. Hope this just gives you an idea :-)

A lot of practices use a questioaire to get an idea on depression so if you get given one answer as best you can.

At the clinic appointment you should be asked about depression, if not just tell them the truth and describe your feelings at this present time, there's help out there but they need to know that there's a problem in the first place.

Hope it all goes well Novowolf!!!!
