Dermal facial fillers -type 1 diabetes

I have been considering having facial dermal fillers in 2 areas, not my lips. During my consultation I was advised that as diabetes is an auto immune disease it would not be advisable to proceed with any treatment. Has anyone else been advised of this, or actually had treatment, if so did it go well?
Botox, apparently is safe to use.
Thanks in advance ☺️

My personal view is dermal fillers are best avoided for everyone, especially as there are a lot of very poor practitioners and they only last 6-18 months,

It sounds like you have a reputable person doing your consultation. I’ve no experience of this but my friend works in the field and she won’t do fillers on anyone with diabetes either T1 or T2 no matter how good their control. She does do Botox but you have to have a letter from your GP and sign a waiver. She did do me a little freebie once ( pre diagnosis) of a tiny bit of Botox in a deep line I have and it was absolutely fine but it’s not something I would do again as I’m not that bothered by it.

Thank you ever so much for the advice. The practioner is an excellent one in her field, this is why I chose her. I guess I will grow old gracefully after all. X

Age doesn’t take away your beauty- and why grow old gracefully? I’m well on the path to growing old with lots of disgrace ;)

I would not tell them I’m diabetic in the first place. If I want something done I’ll have it done. I have this attitude now after once asking about a massage and when I said I was diabetic they wouldn’t do it. I also do not say I’m diabetic if I’m applying for a job either.

There are sound reasons why any practitioner worth their salt turns away potential clients. Sadly, the lucrative cosmetic industry has attracted more than its fair share of charlatans. If contemplating cosmetic procedures, it's wise to proceed with extreme caution. especially where your face is concerned.

That’s very unfair and irresponsible, what if there is a reaction to the filler they use or you are ill whilst there? the industry is heavily governed with rules & regulations in place to protect both the customer & the practitioner. Not being honest about any medical condition or medication you are on has the potential to ruin someone’s business, reputation & livelihood if something goes wrong because they don’t have your history.

Even for something as non invasive as a massage, oils & herbal potions although they may be completely natural they can still have contraindications with some conditions & medications. For instance primrose oil can be dangerous for people with epilepsy, St John’s whort is also contraindicated with a few meds & conditions
