Well, I did take a days leave and did the course. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I didn't learn very much. The nurse and dietician running it strongly advised people against testing as "it makes people worried". I explained how testing had made me feel in control but the tutors weren't having it.
If it had been two evenings rather than a full day then I would have felt it was less of a waste of time.
The interesting fact that came out of the group I was in was that, of the 10 people there, only 4 had had any of the supposedly classic syptoms of diabetes prior to diagnosis.
