Hi I have a DESMOND course arranged for 19 January. Can I ask what usually happens on a DESMOND course. Thank you.
As few as possible is best but try to keep it under 150g if you can.I'm trying to cut down on the carbs, but at the moment I don't know how many you are supposed to have a day.
As above, you may want to take notes, but you should also get a pile of leaflets to add to the pile of leaflets you probably got when you were diagnosed.Hi. Do I need to take a note book to DESMOND or are you given information booklets. Thanks.
Yes, it means your GP can tick another box to keep the bean counters happy. It might also be interesting to see what other people attending are doing. When my cousin went only 4 or so weeks ago, attendees who had an opportunity to recommend low carb were not put down by the people running the course, quite the opposite. In answer to 'how many carbs?', most people will eat 250 gms - 300 gms, I personally cut down to about 80 gms just by cutting out the obvious, pasta/spud/rice/bread, but it has to be down to the individual because we're all so different and that includes different levels of insulin resistance. Use the meter to help you achieve a sensible level for you.If you are ignoring the advice are there any point in doing these courses?
