You need to ring the hospital as should be under consultant care as you are pregnant.Where do I start. I posted one earlier about being pregnant and again had to do own tests and couldn't get a doctors appointment, as my diabetic doctor an only talk on phone it seems. But anyway it was negative. So can someonelse please explain these high mornings and during night time as my doctor does not seem bothered unless I have ketones which I don't. I'm really struggling. I had had nearly 40 units of nova rapid today and still not budging from 14/15 I've told my doctor this on the phone and all she said oh it's probably just a virus. But this has gone on for a week maybe two weeks now going from being perfect like 4/6 in mornings to this. I just want to know what is wrong with my body if there is something. This is the only doctor I have and when can't get an appointment has to call me, but how do they know what's wrong if just on phoneI don't feel well but just seem the care and attitude I get where I live with NHS is just not cared about

Have you even thought about increasing your Lantus? Also have you read the replies you were given on your other post?
Perhaps not your body but the insulin or the pens. Start a new pen or cartridge with a new needle for each injection.
Another possibility: Are you eating food that takes a long time to digest and to make the glucose available to the blood? For example: If I eat a high protein meal I have to split the bolus with some at the start of eating and more at two hours and again at four hours. Fat in the food takes even longer. That is how it works well for me. So to avoid the delay caused by protein and fat I eat a meal with less protein and more carbs. But I don't eat an enormous amount so my split injections will be quite small.
Have you been high all the time for the last two weeks or just at certain times.
I would advise you to get referred to the hospital clinic as they should have more specialised care.
Have you done any basal testing to ensure your Lantus is correct?
Also stress can put your BG up, sometimes seeing high numbers can make you stressed and in turn make your BG worse.
I would try some basal testing as it could be this thats causing the issues. You may not have enough basal, your compensating for this with your NovoRapid and then having crashes like your 2.7 you refer to above..
Try and take it one step at a time.
Try this link for some advice on the testing: https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/
It's not a UK site so you'll need to convert the BG levels mentioned but it could be a starting point.
What time do you take your Lantus at?
I would definately see about getting seen at the hospital.Thank you, I take my lantus just before bed so around 9pm to 10pm. I've heard about people splitting their doses so some at night time and then in morning. I have been on this insulin for over ten years now I would say, but nothing ever gets reviewed or I never hear about the use of pumps and different insulins.
@Styles23 has not got a care team, including a DSN and has to rely on a disinterested G.P. as per this postHi styles23, i have just started to split my night time dose from 1 to 2 and can say that overall my sugars have come down a fair bit, I usually take my levemir between 9-10pm and 8 am. It used to be that my night time levemir would be running out the following day at about lunch time, which then I had to keep having correction doses throughout the afternoon, I would suggest you speak to your dsn to see what they think,
Hi there,
Just wanted to say that it's really not acceptable that you aren't under a consultant if you are thinking of or trying to get pregnant. Your GP needs to refer you a.s.a.p if you are trying or thinking of. I live in Edinburgh where I got pre conception advice and had to be seen regularly before even trying, also you need to be on a higher dose of folic acid than normal pre pregnancy. Is there another doctor you could see at the surgery? I don't know you history or background so apologies if I seem a bit nuts! I had a baby last year (I'm type 1) and the hospital wanted to see me every other week to check diabetes control. Hope you get sorted soon!
