Hi there, thanks for getting back to me, the diabetic nurse said I had Diabetes Mellitus, and that a test came back with insulin dificency, and that they also tested to see if I was type I and the result was negative, so they said I was type 2. But doesn’t matter what I eat my levels go over 12 in the afternoon. So I am on insulin in the eve and morning. But I have been doing meal replacement in the day so when I don’t eat food I’m sort of normal .i have a meter so I test throughout the day. The dexta Scan was 1.414g or 1.499 cm3 measurement. my 1st lot of result belowHi Gill and welcome
Not sure exactly what your results were can I try to tease out some details if ok?
Your HbA1c was 97 mmol/mol?
Your blood sugars currently range between 15-23 mmol/l?
I guess you got a meter from the doctor?
Do you know which blood test you had that showed your pancreas was deficient in insulin because if that's the case you aren't a typical T2 ?
Not sure what the Dexa scan "levels" of 1.44 are do yo know or is that just what you were told?
Sorry lots of questions but your post is a bit garbled (maybe spell check isn't your friend here).
Hi , I’m eating breakfast ,which is porrage in week at work. Salad for lunch or sandwich homemade and yogurt. But now for last 3 weeks I’ve meet on a meal replacement so at lunch I will have a shake and a 400 cal meal in eve, I am watching my cab intake . Though I reckon I am only having about 1000 Cals a day. I have dropped my morning insulin as my levels have been less than 12 which before they would be 15 etc. What are you eating in a typical day?
The '3-stone-overweight' would suggest it's not LADA (Hence why there hasn't been an immediate referral). However, Age >25 but rapid progression to insulin would suggest it is. You should qualify for a Specialist referral because of the insulin requirement.Hi. It sounds like you might be an early stage LADA just guessing from the fact that you have a pancreatic deficiency but it's too early to tell. The GP has obviously done T1 tests which is good. All you can do on that is keep an eye on the blood sugar and discuss with the GP if it rises a lot. Yes, keep the carbs down and forget about calories; just have enough proteins, fats, veg and non-tropical fruit to keep you feeling full.
What tablets?Hi there I am only on insulin because recently diagnosed with IBSD and Bile Acid malabsorption. As I suffer from this I did not want the side affects of the tablets to make the above worse.
Hi no more than 20 in the shakes, and evening meal normal lean burger with salad or chicken and a scoop of potato with veg.Porridge is something I wouldn't eat. A sandwich using bread is not a good option. How many carbs are in the shake and in your evening meal?
I looked up the medication and most of the tablet gave you side affect of diarrhoea and stomachache. Which I already get that and didn’t want to add to it .What tablets?
Thanks I am looking at different options and will discuss with the doc on tues. did look at the keto but I don’t know if I can do that long term, . We will see. When I was diagnosed, I went lchf/keto. I counted carbs not calories. It goes against everything you have learned about dieting in the past.
If you are on insulin you will need to be very careful lowering carbs in case of hypos. Do plenty of research before making a decision.
Will check that and see this eve. ThanksOk. You have a meter. Take a reading just before you eat and another 2 hours after the first bite.
If the rise is more than 2, then you had too many carbs.
I couldn't eat potatoes, except for Christmas dinner.
