Detox from medication

So I take medication for diabetes, blood pressure and a few other things. I decided that I am going to STOP taking all of my tablets for at least 1 week (ideally 2 weeks) and allow my body to DETOX from all the interference that these prescription drugs cause. So no metformin, glicazide etc for now. I was just wondering if anyone else here does the same thing or what you think about a detox?

The result would probably be far too high bg that will do it´s own kind of pollution in your body so I would say it is just plain stupid to stop diabetes medication even for a week. But you could of course go onto a very strict LCHF to make up for the bg control you loose if you stop meds. That way the damage wouldn't be so severe.

Don't stop taking your medications without consulting your gp first, remember your on those medications for a reason.

I had thought of doing something like this ... But .. Some drugs can give you massive withdrawal problems .. This can mess things up far more than just keep taking them.
PLEASE .. Talk to your doctor first if you are going to try this..

ne0h, it can only be days ago that you told us all that we were all mad trying to be as medication free as possible. Then the drugs were wonderful, what's changed?

You also say on a post you made on Monday that you haven't started taking your gliclizide yet so how can you stop and detox from something you aren't taking?

Why would you stop taking your Metformin if it is working so astoundingly for you, I may be wrong but in a post you said that the metformin without any diet change had dropped your BS by approx 10 points!

Why do you want to go back to the high BGs you say you had before taking Metformin ?

If you wish to stop taking your meds that's your personal choice but I would suggest talking to your doc about it rather than discuss it on an open forum where someone else may pick up on this very bad idea.

One thing, though.

If you are on statins I think it is a very good idea to take a week's holiday every now and then to check for unnoticed side effects.
These can creep up on you and you only notice when you stop.
A week or two off statins is very unlikely to be life threatening but is a good check that your aren't suffering from something that you think 'just comes with diabetes'.

Cheers

I had started taking gliclizide as well as metformin. It is because metformin has worked for me it will work for me again. I hear what people are saying but I feel that I must detox from all drugs. I stopped my medications two days ago cold turkey. I can't explain it but I feel that my body is crying out for a detox.

ps - my bg dropped by over 22 points!

So, for that 22 point drop, you were actually taking Metformin, or Metformin and Gliclazide?

ne0h, your communication style is befuddling, if not misleading.

If it's for real, you look to have some sort of self-destruct desire (diabetes + full fat coke etc), then if your bloods have improved as you say they have, the desire to cease the tools that have facilitated the change (as by your own statements you have not modified your diet).

If I have misjudged you, I apologise.
