Don’t you just hate it when you have perfect levels after sleeping, than you wake up and eat, but you haven’t counted the carbs properly or done the right amount, maybe you should’ve given yourself like three more units, but after you eat you notice your blood rising, you do a quick correction but start to feel blood sugar high 151266A2-EFFC-4A28-BAA7-697204B34AE1.jpg

Have you come across the term “foot on the floor”? It’s when our system detects we’re awake and dumps a load of glucose from the liver to get us going - it’s a cortisol response that happens as soon as we wake up. I need to take 1.5-1.75u Novorapid as soon as I wake up to stop a ridiculous rise of 2-4mmol, pretty much. But only on days when I have to be up for something like work. Other days, I watch my levels on my watch like a hawk, and as soon as I see my levels start to rise, I’ll take the dose for it - it doesn’t always happen on non work days, and I’ve given myself a hypo more than once by taking insulin and then it didn’t happen.
