HI,
Does anyone know the real time delay with the Dexcom CGM. are the readings about 10 mins. behind your actual real time reading as if you were to prick your finger or are they longer / shorter

Thanks

It all depends, really on where your BG are. For example I find that If mine are within normal range, they are bang on instant. However if they are low there is a lag between your bg coming up and the reading on the dexcom which I estimate at around 15 mins. The Dexcom doesn't actually measure the blood glucose it measure the interspatial fluid in your tissues. I find the same when I'm correcting from a high there is a slight lag but maybe only 5-10 mins. From the research I did before I got it I think the manufacturer suggests 15 mins. But as with everything in diabetes it's hard to be truly accurate with a set time limit as it will vary on times days and set location, etc.
