Hi. I’ve been using a libre with the blucon transmitter for quite a while and am very happy with its accuracy. However I’ve developed an allergy to the libre’s adhesive and need to swap to another cgm.
I’m considering a Dexcom G5 (I live in Australia and i don’t think the G6 is available here).
I’d be grateful if anyone can tell me if the G5 is waterproof ie you can have a shower with it uncovered. The Dexcom website says”water resistant “ if the transmitter is correctly on the sensor. I’m not sure what this means in practical terms.
Also the price is scary, mainly due to the recurring $AU 540, /309 uk pounds price of the transmitter every 3 months. Is there anyway to extend the life of the transmitter/ replace the battery?

If you use it with xDrip+, it seems so.

There's a thread here where the poster kept the transmitter going for 190 days:

Hi, yes definitely waterproof. On my first sensor I did have some problems with losing connection after showering then coming back to normal a couple of hours later. However on close inspection I noticed I hadn't quite perfectly seated the transmitter on the sensor, so water was getting in, but then after a couple of hours it had evaporated, so back to normal. Seating it is actually easy, it just clicks into place on two sides. But until you've done your first one and can see how it fits together it can be missed.

The transmitters actually last about 105-110 days, so a little over 3 months... but yes does make it expensive.
