DexcomG6, omnipod closed loop. HELP!!!

Hi folks, I'm having a disastrous day. I was on an Omnipod, Libre2 plus closed loop system. Omnipod said the Libre 2 plus wasn't right for me because the sensor keeps failing, often 6/7 times a day for up to an hour at a time. Cambridge no longer fund DexcomG6 and I managed to successfully appeal and have just been sent my Dexcom supplies. I inserted my first Dexcom, swapped the pod and the Dexcom won't work because my Motorola phone isn't compatible. So I've inserted a sensor on my body which should work for 14 days and it won't connect. Dexcom day I need to buy a new phone. Omnipod say they should send me a controller which will start the Dexcom. Has anyone else had problems using the Dexcom G6??
 
Hi, sorry to hear things aren’t as simple as one imagined. I’m on an Omnipod and was on Libre which was a bit useless so was put on Dexcom - it’s good but hardly a closed loop system. Yes; your phone, unfortunately, is an ?old? one and the updates that Dexcom have on their operating system means an up-to-date phone would be really useful…
So Dexcom needs a smartphone (which accepts system updates) but Omnipod have only their handsets we have to use. It’s a pain that Omnipod have not switched from using their handset to a standalone system (where I could have recon and Omnipod on my mobile phone… Omnipod make more money, perhaps, by forcing us to use their handsets.

So; yes, your phone might be a little too old or not compatible with Dexcom. Are you able to get a device or newer phone?

Omnipod isn’t great at bringing BG’s down overnight; it’s really cautious of blood sugars dropping too fast but it’s very good at shutting down insulin delivery if BG’s are dropping towards hypo line. I’m a bit burnt out by things; having to micro manage BG’s because the closed loop between dexcom G6 and Omnipod isn’t quite good enough (algorithms aren’t learning).

Good luck - it might mean having to get used to a newer phone or having to carry an Omnipod handset, a device to read dexcom and also your trusted Motorola?
 
Hi I always carry my iPhone and my Omnipod DPM. However, if I leave one at home by mistake my iPhone and Omnipod DPM start sending messages out saying unable to provide BG readings. I’m baffled by this.

I use omnipod and Dexcom G6 (which I self fund ). I use the controller however with Dexcom you need compatible phone as it’s managed on the phone not the omnipod which is different from Libre. I self fund Dexcom as it works for me unlike the Libre. I realise not everyone is in a position to do this however. Buying a new phone can be expensive but there are good pre loved phones on the market which could offer a solution. Just check Dexcom list of compatible phones before you buy.
 
I am a Omnipod 5 & Dexcom G7 user. Unfortunately you need the Omnipod 5 PDM to control things such as giving a bolus and changing your pod. You also need to link your sensor and pod when you change your pod or sensor. You need the Dexcom app on your phone to start the sensor.

It would make life easier if you could have the Omnipod 5 app on your phone. Maybe one day
