Dexecom vs Libre question

Hi,
I’ve been advised to try the dexecom as I have constant issues with signal loss with the Libre 2. Never used to but it’s all the time and getting a bit ridiculous.

What are people’s thoughts?

Also, it always frustrated me that I couldn’t start the app on my phone and then my reader or have alarms on both.
Is this the same with dexecom?

This is not the first time there have been requests for comparisons between the two on this forum.
Foe example, you may find this thread helps answer your questions.

When you are supplied the Dexcom you will NOT be provided a reader as it not needed.. you can purchase on separate if needed, but they only work on bluetooth so the startup is different, no more holding a reader to the sensor

My opinion is that Dexcom is better.. I’m assuming they will provide the Dexcom one which is a bit bigger than the libre

But it would be worth trying it out..

I like dexcom because you can calibrate it, but there are software add-ons that allow this for libre. Also dexcom customer service is superb (disclaimer I am in New Zealand), you can ring them 24/7 for help.

I'll be honest, what I've learnt about the UK dexcom ONE hasn't overly impressed me, not sure if you can calibrate it? Google is leading me to the NZ version of dexcom ONE, which is a cut down version of the G7, has optional calibration, and something I would happily use if I didn't need the pump functionality of the G6, G7.

But honestly, different people prefer different sensors. You could certainly try the dexcom out? I've been very happy with the dexcom.

Like you, I like to calibrate my CGM against finger pricks. I find it gives me a peace of mind.
However, my understanding is that the Dexcom One (the alternative to Libre 2 in the UK) can NOT be calibrated. It is one of the features that has been removed to keep the cost down.
I have read about a new Dexcom One+ due out soon which is based on the G7 (with reduced feature set)

Good Morning Carolyn81.
I am a dexcom one user. I personally have found it more accurate the Libre 2. There was an update last year and you can now calibrate dexcom one which for me is an extremely useful feature

Good luck

I'm waiting for the new Libre sensors to be on prescription in the next few weeks as they are supposed to be even better than the dexcom and more accurate than anything around but I will see when they are out and I get my hands on them as they will be out in June/July so Libre are saying
