Disgusting, but we shouldn't be surprised after other scandals. FSA needs to be on top of this. From an article in "the Guardian":
"The cheap ranges of frozen chicken on sale in the UK do declare the added water, as well as additives such as phosphates incorporated to stop the water from flooding out during cooking and dextrose, a sugar added to mask the saltiness of the raw material."

It says that Asda, Aldi and Iceland all sell frozen chicken that has been "plumped" with water. Personally, what worries me is not so much the water as the dextrose. The free range chicken legs I buy from Morrisons claim 0 carbs on the label. However, today I was too rushed to cook, so I ate a lot of cold chicken I had prepared yesterday. I probably ate fewer carbs than usual, but tonight my bg readings are higher than usual, and I am now wondering if this is due to eating all that chicken.
According to their site Tesco's Butchers Choice Chicken Breast Fillets have 0.17 grams per 100 grams not a lot But I would prefer my meat with out any at all.How much carb per 100g?

That is 1.7g per kg. It should not make any impact on bg even if you take one kg in one go
My Grandson eats that in one day easily. He is zero carb so would be most dis chuffed.
At times a kilo of meat in one meal
today 500 grams of beef mice, and eight eggs one meal then a portion of the 500 grams of beef mince I cooked this evening he has just polished of two serloin steaks.
When we have chicken it's in the same amounts for him.he is a monster.
All keto no carbs.
@0.6g carbs per egg that adds up to 4.8g carbs. It is amazing how many people claim to be consuming zero carbs out of sheer ignorance.eight eggs one meal
I am glad to see that the Morissons free range chicken declares no dextrose and zero carbs per 100g https://groceries.morrisons.com/web...+thighs&parentContainer=SEARCHfree+range+drumAccording to their site Tesco's Butchers Choice Chicken Breast Fillets have 0.17 grams per 100 grams not a lot But I would prefer my meat with out any at all.
I am usually too rushed to cook. That is simply a fact about my relationship with time in my life, nothing unusual for me. In this case, as I did have some pre-cooked chicken in the fridge I was not particularly stressed. I can't answer your detailed questions about my raised bg as I am not yet using a Libre.Hi @Alexandra100
Dextrose in meat isn’t ideal, but if you were too rushed to cook, the I would suspect the stress hormones for your spike.
Was it a short short spike? Or a long slow hillock? Protein gives me hillocks and stress hormones give me bumpy spikes.
Yes, if you read the full article, there is also a concern about non-chicken proteins eg perhaps horse being introduced into chicken meat, and this is being investigated.Disgusting, but we shouldn't be surprised after other scandals. FSA needs to be on top of this.
Yes. Call me old fashioned, but I think we'd all prefer for our meat to contain, oh I don't know, maybe just meat!Yes, if you read the full article, there is also a concern about non-chicken proteins eg perhaps horse being introduced into chicken meat, and this is being investigated.
Body builder several hours in the gym most days I'm aghast at it my self at times he could easily bench press me if he so wished. That is an awesome carnivorous.
For younger person should be ok. But older people, it may place some stress on their kidneys to eat that much protein.
I dare not tell him that, what the eye does not see the heart does not grieve over.Apart from dextrose
