This would be the only reason I move to a pump frm MDI's. SOunds very promising lets hope if its not funded that it is affordable as it would help in daily life for sure.

IF you can't use that, then there's also DIY systems available now and the 670G will be coming shortly to an NHS hospital near you. Although whether you'd get funded CGM is a different question.

...and therein lies the rub. I can just about afford my Dexcom, which is fine as it does a great job, but there's no way I could afford a pump as well. There's no way, with good control using MDI, that a pump would be offered.

Saying that, I do love seeing the progress made in this field.

Well, you can always identify trends that you are handling because you have dexcom, and demand that you're put forward for a pump as a result.

For example, how often do you inject insulin? More than 5x per day? Then you qualify under the ABCD guidance.

Great news - terrible name though!

Surely, they'll start to appear in the UK soon. Any news on whether these systems are to be approved any time soon?

What do you mean?
There are many reasons to move from MDI to a pump as the pump allow variable basal.
I mean from a personal stand point view of having it constantly attached. The only reason I would get the pump is if it had automated dosing of insulin, as doing it manually I would rather inject a few times a day.

I felt similar to you until I tried out a pump.
Many people on pumps say they forget it is there.
Unfortunately, I do not.
However, the improved control I get through exercise makes it worthwhile being attached.
This has nothing to do with the number of times I injected - it is due to the ability to adjust my basal for different times of the day (e.g. to deal with Dawn Phenomenon) and adjust for short periods when exercising, going to a stressful meeting, when ill, ... I can make basal changes in an hour rather than needing 3 or 4 days for the change to "bed in".
