diabetes 2 and Ibrobufen

Hello,i had to visit a rehabilitation clinic yesterday because of a bad back,I told them I was diabetic and couldn't have Ibrobufen,the doctor said yes I could take it,but not if I have kidney disease. I'm now puzzled. also I take 1 metaformin tablet a day, and my blood sugar is between 5-6 in the mornings is this ok?

Am not medically qualified so cant answer from a gp point of view, but i was told you can not take ibuprofen if you have complications with you kidneys and creatine levels

Also depending on who makes the tablet they are mostly sugar coated and puts your bs up, albeit you can weigh this up by how much the medication helps you as stress, pain etc raises bs as well

I've been prescribed ibroprofen since being diagnosed with diabetes, so I'd assume it's ok.
 
check the medical web sites, but I take it for a painful hip.
 
There are several side effects from ibuprofen including tinnitus, stomach bleeding and worsening of kidney problems. If you are prescribed by a Consultant it is usually a higher dose than you buy over the counter. I don't take them because they are contra-indicated for someone suffering high blood pressure.

Can't answer about the ibuprofen, but your morning blood sugar readings are very good - pretty much non-diabetic level, so your BS control seems to be spot on.

I was told not to take aspirin due to acid reflux. Later I was told I could use it while taking famotidine. I used ibuprofen instead and was never warned off it.

Now I can't take any of the **** things as they induce tinnitus. Even the ointment was making my ears sing. Paracetamol is about as much use to me as eating the box it came in so I'm just going to have to be very careful not to injure myself!
 
Can you take co-codamol? That has more of an effect.
 
my doctor said I should not take ibuprofen. It wouldn't mess with your blood sugar readings, but it could cause serious problems with kidneys and other organs, and since you're already at a high risk for these problems, I'd stay away from it.

You have two different orders, from two different doctors? I might even bring in a third doctor in this situation, just to get another opinion. Maybe one of your doctors is a quack.

My doctor perscribed me a low dose of aspirin, which doesn't interact with my other meds and is actually supposed to protect you from heart problems, so I'm sure that would be ocay to take. I'd ask your doctor about that before starting it though.
