Diabetes and abscesses?

Re: Diabetes and abcsesses?

I'd ask to be referred to a skin specialist. I don't know whether it has anything to do with diabetes, but you need to get it sorted.

Re: Diabetes and abcsesses?

A friend of mine had a similar experience when using one of those, aparently the machine had 'half-pulled out the hair then cut it, then as the hair continued to grow it grew 'sideways' under the skin, she ended up having to be admitted over night to hosp for a procedure to remove all the damaged folicles, she has since binned the machine and the prob did not happen again.

like you she was very concerned and didnt want to go to docs, but the end reslut proved she was right to.

Hi Diva,
Ouch, it sounds really painful. I agree with the comment above and would get your GP to refer you to a skin specialist ASAP.
Ive seen other cases (on TV- Embarrising Bodies) with similar problems caused by hairs growing back under the skin and thus forming abscesses. I remember thinking how sore and painful it looked.
I have had abscesses formed by injection sights and insulin I was allergic too and was sent to the local A&E department where I was monitered and returned under their care. I think you should get some prof help to prevent these abscesses becoming bacterial infections.
Good luck and all the best.

Hi, Thank you for all the replies. I will be booking an appointment tommoro and hopefully will be able to see a specialist as antibiotics just aren't enough. I will hopefully be free of these horrible abcsesses soon and have thrown the torture device aka. epilator in the bin. :?
