diabetes and asthma/colds

HI All
I have just been diagnosed with level 2 diabetes, i have been prescribed Metformin, i need to know if i can take any medication for my cold, also when getting a cold my Asthma kicks in and i need my inhaler( blue type ), i dont know what side effects or what is safe to take, any advice.

One thing to beware of is inhalers or other sources of steroids which can raise BG temporarily. Colds themselves (and other infections) can also do this. Other types of inhaler are generally safe, some cold medications contain high quantities of sugar - read the label!
